Proper hedge trimming, or pruning involves paying meticulous attention to balance and symetry.
Most important, when trimming hedges, is to avoid injuring any plants. Spring and fall are the best time
to make significant changes to a plants' shape. Summer months are hot and dry, so a great deal of damage
can occur at the cutting area of the plant.
Besides hedge trimming, weeding is important. It's
best to get on a regular routine when it comes to weeding, so your gardens stay healthy and maintain
a good appearance. There are many products available to control weeds, however, the best solution is
to just remove them. Cultivating with a howe or tillers (of various sizes) can be an easy way to keep
weeds in check.
Grass is another common problem in gardens. Try preventing your lawn from creeping
into any gardens. Edge all gardens, using a spade or a power weed-wacker. Once your gardens are free
of grass and weeds, apply a thick coat of mulch. Note: Be sure to clear all mulch from gardens every
spring, because insects make nests in mulched gardens throughout the summer.
Whether you have
a privacy hedge, several shrubs and bushes that need pruning, or even weeding that needs to be done,
Gramma's Gardens has the tools and skills needed to keep that enhanced look all year round. Again, it's
recommended that you prune hedges and weed your gardens in the spring, summer and fall.
